Puerto Morelos offers mild
and welcoming climate, white coral sand beaches adjacent to the turquoise
Caribbean Sea and a variety of tourist facilities that offer you the
perfect getaway at any time of the year.
Just off shore you will find one of the most beautiful reefs in the world
whose clear waters are home to an astounding array of fish and coral life.
From the smallest schools of iridescent darting fish to the majestic turtles
and stingrays there is always abundant interest for divers.
The water temperature ranges from 25-30 degrees Celsius (77-85F) and
the visibility at 20-40 metres (60-120ft) allows for scuba diving all
year round.
Our dive instructors will take you to the best locations in the area for your
experience and taking into account the prevailing currents.
We offer PADI courses up to Dive Master - Discover Scuba Diving, (resort course) Open Water certification, Rescue Diver, Advanced Open Water and Emergency First Response, see our section on the courses that you can do on your holiday to enhance your diving abilities and deepen your experience.
Our reef dives can be shallow dives
inside the reef up to dives that show larger coral formations and at greater
depths all within a half hour of shore.
There are also Wreck dives - there are two accessible wrecks near Puerto
Morelos, the closest , the C-56, gives you a dive of 60-90 feet
to explore a navy boat that coralised beautifully and is a heaven for the
largest pelagics. More experienced divers can visit the Tulum that
takes you down to 120 feet.
Night diving - if you have never experienced the coral reefs nightlife this is the place to see the wonders of the reef at night. Moonlit nights in the warm Caribbean Sea are irresistible normally, add in the beauty of the reef at night and you are in heaven.
Cenote diving - Enjoy the
fascinating world of Mexico's cenotes where visibility is at 50 metres
(150ft) and the stalactites and stalagmites pay tribute to the ancient
structures. Throughout the centuries a system of underground caverns was formed
on this limestone peninsula unique in the world. The porous surface allowed
rainwater to create and fill caverns whose water's search for an exit caused
parts of the surface to collapse forming what we call cenotes (from the Mayan
'dzonot'). These cenotes are our gateway into an underworld aquatic system,
it is a magical experience not to be missed.
Dive Puerto Morelos takes tours to two cenotes on private grounds
near to Puerto Morelos as well as to various cenotes near Tulum and Puerto
Aventuras. You do not lose sight of natural light and are provided with a
flashlight. The dives are between 9-15 metres (30-50ft). Open Water certification
is sufficient, no cave diving experience necessary but you must have good
buoyancy control to avoid stirring the soft bottom.
"Nature works in this
land so different from the rivers and fountains, that the rivers and fountains
which everywhere in the world run above ground, here they all run and follow
their secret labyrinths underneath it. This has shown us that almost the entire
coast is full of fresh water springs which rise from within the sea and one
can take water from them in many places when, in the waning of the water,
the shore's edge is somewhat dry. On land, God provided some wells which the
Indians call cenotes which reach through slices of stone down to the water
"
